Hi, I'm Emma!
I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for the council in the newly formed ward of Charlemont! Together, we have an incredible opportunity to shape a vibrant and thriving community in one of the fastest-growing areas in the country. As people from across the state and beyond settle here, my goal is to champion initiatives that bring us together, foster connections, and build a sense of belonging.
Proudly from Geelong, I went to Oberon South Primary School and Matthew Flinder GSC. Back then I can-canned across the stage at GPAC, but these days you’re more likely to find me at the Belmont Market fighting with my partner about what’s defined as “trash” vs what’s defined as “treasure”.
In fact, my parents still live in the same house in Belmont I grew up in. Obviously, I have seen the changes take place in our region - even more rapidly in the last decade - and that services aren't matching the incredible growth.
When I built my house in the new Charlemont area over 3 years ago, it was basically a block on a field, on a farm with two neighbours and some cows. Now there are literally thousands of singles, couples, families and retirees I am proud to call my new neighbours - and it's this new community I want to forge and be an integral part of.
Professionally, I am a dedicated community advocate with a strong background in engagement, operations, communications, and project management.
I work in the community services sector where I focus on creating inclusive and accessible services. My days are spent talking to people with lived experience and working with them to co-design new projects to benefit the community.
I also have over a decade of experience in the private sector, leading projects for federal and state governments, aged care, and healthcare clients.
I look forward to getting to know you over the campaign, and if have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out!
